AGCO Reman has paired up with the world’s most powerful motorsport – Tractor Pulling. The Bear Essentials Team, based near Shrewsbury, has called on the expertise of AGCO Reman, to keep their 2,000hp tractor running smoothly in competitions across the UK and Europe.
Ice Bear was totally rebuilt in 2016, returning to its original colour scheme from when it was first built in 1996. Based on a production 160hp Valtra tractor, with wheel speeds of up to 90kmh, Ice Bear triumphed in the British Championships last season and finished 9th in the European Championships.
A multiple British champion and top 10 European contender, Ice Bear competes in the Prostock category for production based tractors running on diesel fuel with a single turbocharger.
The goal of Tractor Pulling is simple. Take one skillfully modified tractor and try to drag an increasingly heavy sledge as far as possible. In the Prostock category, a weight of up to 60 tonnes is hauled down a 100m track in about 10 seconds!
It’s a challenge the Bear Essentials Team take very seriously, covering almost 20,000km a year to compete in both the British Championships and competitions throughout Europe, where Tractor Pulling is a major spectator sport.
To get over the 100m line, every inch of the tractor must perform to its maximum, which is where AGCO Reman comes in.
AGCO Reman is the systematic process where previously used parts are recovered and sent to a remanufacturing centre of excellence and bought back to as new condition. AGCO has been remanufacturing parts for Valtra machines for over 25 year, covering machines from the 1970’s through to current production models.
The Prostock category is as close to an OEM production specification as possible, for this AGCO Reman parts play an important role. Engine block, crankshaft and cylinder heads as well as major components of the trans-axle assembly in Ice Bear can utilise these remanufactured parts.

“We are pushing some components at over twice design speed and load and it is a testament to the base design of these components and the ability for AGCO Reman to achieve the same high standards with the remanufactured parts that keep us at the top of the game”.
The Eurocup Series began for the Prostock teams back in May where Ice Bear achieved 6th place in Lidköping, Sweden and 7th place in Made, Holland.
The first round of the British Championships also took place recently at Cumbria’s Power Weekend 29th and 30th June 2019 where Ice Bear achieved 1st place!
